Teacher of Middle and Upper School Writing and Learning Skills (2026)
The Brearley School, an independent girls’ school serving over 770 students K–12, welcomes candidates for a full-time ongoing position as a Teacher of Middle and Upper School Writing and Learning Skills beginning August 2026.
teaching three or four Middle School courses in the Learning Skills curriculum (grades 5–8)
providing one-to-one executive function support to Middle and Upper School students (grades 5–12).
participating in grade-level team planning meetings with colleagues in and outside of the department
implementing an inclusive, anti-bias, and anti-racist pedagogy
contributing to the life of the school and the students outside of the department
The ideal candidate will:
have a bachelor’s degree in the humanities or education; an advanced degree is education is preferred
have three to five years of experience in supporting students with learning differences and in teaching Language Arts at the middle or high school level
have experience working with students to build executive functioning skills, including time management, task organization, and study strategies
possess excellent communication skills
be collegial and enjoy working collaboratively on the curriculum
have a commitment to the education of girls
have a commitment to supporting the unique learning needs of neurodiverse students

In 2026–2027, the total salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $161,900 depending on years of full-time K–12 teaching experience.
