Certification Manager (Administrative Mgr.) - School of Education POSITION DETAILS
Brooklyn College is soliciting applications for an Administrative Manager (Certification Manager). Reporting to the Dean of the School of Education, the Certification Manager serves as the liaison between Brooklyn College and city and state agencies, including the New York State Education Department (NYSED) and the New York City Public Schools (NYCPS).
In addition to the CUNY Title overview, the duties of The Certification Manager include but are not limited to:
Interpret, evaluate, and communicate NYSED and NYCPS policies and practices to Brooklyn College students, alumni, faculty, staff, and advisors to assure compliance with certification and licensing standards.
Facilitate processes required for the recommendation to NYSED for all Brooklyn College teacher, administrator, school counselor, school psychologist, and speech-language pathologist certificates and endorsements, as well as validating graduates’ requests for out-of-state certification.
Collect Brooklyn College data for NYSED Title II compliance and complete and submit the Title II report to NYSED annually.
Maintain the Brooklyn College student fingerprint security clearance database with the NYCPS.
Create and maintain database of Brooklyn College student scores on all required teacher certification tests, disaggregate data by program, and disseminate scores to individual program coordinators.
Oversee scheduling and implementation of certification test preparation workshops. Oversee distribution of certification test vouchers.
Maintain records and statistics regarding testing and certification and prepare reports for Brooklyn College as well as local, state, and national constituents.
Participate in accreditation processes as appropriate. Provide data for accreditation.
Collaborate with the Magner Center and NYCPS for Career Development regarding internships and job placements.
Be contact person for local and state educational organizations.
Complete DOCS training and use system to communicate to SOE students.
- Bachelor's Degree and six years' relevant experience required.
Knowledge and experience creating and maintaining large databases using using MS Ecxcel and/or SPSS
Experience running queries in CUNYfirst
Manages administrative aspects of department operations such as admissions, recruitment, scheduling, facilities management, and events.
Serves as Office Manager, supervising and training staff, managing financial operations and budgets, and coordinating technology, equipment, security, and building maintenance requirements.
Represents management in meetings and activities related to department administration.
Maintains archives, inventories, or collections of materials or records needed by the department.
Works with fund-raising, marketing, technology, and other personnel to provide information and participate in Campus or University-wide initiatives.
Collect information for, produce, and distribute department reports covering program, fiscal, and human resources issues
Independently carries out unit activities such as approvals, student interactions, and participation in campus- or university-wide committees and projects.
