POSITION DETAILS
The Early College Liaison serves as an intermediary between Hostos Community College and Hostos‑Lincoln Academy of Science, with the mission of strengthening student performance and expanding students' horizons to include post‑secondary educational opportunities and career goals. Through this partnership, the students are able to earn college credits toward their associate degree or earning the degree, while earning a high school diploma.

As part of this educational experience, the liaison works with the college faculty and staff to develop non‑credit bearing programs and events to support this goal. Working together with the college and school personnel, the liaison seeks to maintain and develop collaborations that serve to better prepare students for college and for a career while fostering mutual learning among the faculty, staff, and students at the partnering institutions.

The liaison is instrumental in facilitating student's progress and success by ensuring that appropriate collaborative support mechanisms are in place, so it is highly recommended that this person have experience working with both high school students and adults (i.e. professors, teachers, parents and school leadership). The ability to develop strong working relationships needs to be combined with strong organizational skills around the various administrative responsibilities.

Duties
  • Serve as a liaison between Hostos Community College and Hostos‑Lincoln Academy of Science in all areas of communication and logistics
  • Monitor student progress in pre‑college and college classes, including ongoing communication with students, school leaders, professors, and high school instructors
  • Coordinate student academic support services for students in college courses including tutoring
  • Convene and participate in regular planning meetings with college and school staff for planning and development of early college partnership activities and success
  • Assists with managing the admissions and enrollment processes for college courses; communicate with professors and high school instructor to monitor progress
  • Assist the school in monitoring and evaluating program data
  • Assist with budget proposals, mid‑year budget reports, and final reports for Early College
  • In conjunction with faculty and staff, develop and implement programs that support overall Early College goals, with particular emphasis on college‑level curriculum and bridge programs that support student achievement
  • Promote understanding and participation in Early College within Hostos; develop and maintain effective relationships with professors, academic departments, and administrative offices
  • Contributes to the success of Early College throughout CUNY by attending Early College meetings, submitting data, and identifying best practices
  • Essential duties require on‑campus presence
Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and four years' relevant experience required.

The Following Qualifications Are Preferred
  • Master's degree in education, public affairs, or related field and/or state teacher certification
  • Knowledge of the New York City Department of Education
  • Four (4) years of relevant administrative experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated mastery of relevant technological capacities (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Ability to master college tech systems
  • Availability to work evening and weekend hours when required
