Main Purpose Of Role

This role is part of Léman Manhattan’s vibrant, collaborative learning community, which delivers an engaging and academically rigorous program for all students. Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement library policies and procedures.
  • Promote reading and a love of literature throughout the school community.
  • Develop and propose an annual expense budget inclusive of all subscription databases, projected book expenditures, supplies, equipment, and furnishings (manage library expenditures).
  • Uphold high standards for academic integrity and deliver instruction and materials that build awareness and adherence to digital citizenship.
  • Guide departmental efforts toward the adoption and implementation of Information literacy skills scope & sequence combined with tech skills scope & sequence.
  • Act as a liaison between the school and educational institutions (museums, archives, public libraries, university libraries) to aid research support.
  • Facilitate the research process through individual 1:1 conferences with students.
  • Work with teachers and other educators to build and strengthen connections between student research needs, curricular content, learning outcomes, and information resources in a safe, flexible, conducive learning environment.
  • Participate in curriculum development to design and teach engaging learning experiences, incorporating multiple literacies, fostering critical thinking, and promoting a love of reading.
  • Participate as an active member of the Library/EdTech Vertical Team.
  • Implement practices that allow for smooth, user‑friendly access to print and digital resources.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Educational Technology to provide tech training workshops for students and faculty.
  • Create book displays and bulletin boards to promote library resources, reading, and learning.
  • Create book lists to promote extra‑curricular reading, including maintaining the personal reading list program.
  • Meet with English teachers to advise and support required reading for curricular and summer book selection.
  • Ensure equitable access and select materials that represent diverse perspectives and needs of students, faculty, staff, and Léman Community.
  • Update, maintain, and promote use of Upper School library page and manage Follett Destiny catalog.
  • Curate, organize, and promote use of digital information resources and database subscriptions.
  • Select, purchase, catalog, and process all print, electronic books, and periodicals (curated to correspond to curriculum, international mindedness, independent reading, and student interests).
  • Facilitate the research process through individual 1:1 conferences with students, including collaborating with ELA teachers and teachers of the grade 10 Research and Writing class.
