University NYSOP Navigator (Admissions Senior Advisor), Office of Admissions Services (Multiple Vacancies)

POSITION DETAILS

The Office of Enrollment Management within the Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) at The City University of New York (CUNY) Central Office, in collaboration with CUNY's 26 colleges and key University stakeholders, develops and advances enrollment and retention strategies that expand access, promote equity, and support student success. Comprised of K-16 Initiatives, Office of Admission Services, Office of Student Financial Assistance, and Office of the University Registrar, the division supports the full student lifecycle, from outreach and application to enrollment, persistence, and completion.

The University Admissions Office functions as the central recruitment and admissions resource for prospective undergraduate students, including first-year, transfer, adult, and non-traditional applicants. The office is dedicated to delivering clear and consistent guidance, responsive service, and a student-centered admissions experience throughout the University system.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Admissions Services, the University NYSOP Navigator will serve as a senior admissions advisor to prospective students who are eligible for the New York State Opportunity Promise (NYSOP), a strategic NYS initiative designed to increase college degree attainment by providing free community college for eligible adult learners aged 25–55, making it possible for adult learners to pursue an associate’s degree in high-demand fields like Nursing, Teaching, Technology, and Engineering.

The NYSOP Navigator is responsible for ensuring an exceptional and supportive experience for prospective students, providing expert admissions and enrollment guidance and counseling in a time sensitive manner.

In addition to the job summary above and CUNY Title Overview below, other key duties include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective NYSOP students, providing accurate and timely guidance on admissions requirements, academic programs, and application procedures through phone, email, virtual, and in-person communications.
  • Provide comprehensive enrollment counseling to first-year, transfer, and adult learners by assessing academic goals, identifying potential barriers, and guiding students through next steps in the admissions process.
  • Conduct proactive outreach and follow-up from inquiry through enrollment to support application completion, registration, and timely submission of FAFSA and New York State financial aid applications.
  • Review applications and supporting documentation in accordance with established admissions guidelines and provide preliminary assessments as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of student inquiries, communications, and application activity within admissions and recruitment systems, including Slate, College Board EPS/Search, Live Person, and Ruffalo Noel Levitz tools.
  • Utilize recruitment tracking systems and reporting modules to monitor outreach activity, analyze engagement trends, and support enrollment goals.
  • Participate in recruitment initiatives, including information sessions, workshops, open houses, college re-entry programming, and community outreach events across New York City; deliver engaging presentations to prospective students, families, and community partners.
  • Collaborate with campus admissions, financial aid, student services offices, and external partners to facilitate a seamless transition from application through enrollment and connect students to appropriate University resources.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by assessing student needs and recommending enhancements to programs, processes, communications, and service delivery.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Until further notice, this position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
  • Frequent travel across all five boroughs to attend evening and weekend events is required.
