The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director and working closely with faculty, students, and other offices in the Law School and the University, the incumbent takes a lead role in various elements of work associated with Registration Services, including specific responsibility for CLS special populations, as well as the non-Law student Cross-Registration process, and CLS student leaves, withdrawals, and course evaluations.

Responsibilities

Student Registration Administration

Takes a central role in pre-registration, registration, and ensuring accurate student records, including the management of non-Law student Cross-Registration and the Columbia/NYU Exchange Program. Partners with the Director of International Programs to import and register students on international exchange;
Manages visiting students by creating profiles and registration. Working within Columbia's Student Information System (SIS) and Columbia's Vergil platform ensures accuracy with registration coding. Assist with JD degree clearance.

Leaves, Withdrawals, Return to Campus (15%)

Manages academic records for students separating from the school. Ensures internal and external databases are up-to-date. Partners with student-facing offices within the school such as Student Services, the Office of Graduate Programs, and the Office of Financial Aid, along with the University's Registrar's Office to maintain accurate records upon student separation and return, when applicable.

Dual Degrees

In cooperation with student advisors, the incumbent tracks dual degree students' residencies; updates SIS billing codes to ensure accurate tuition charges, and partners with colleagues across the University to provide student support.

Course Evaluations

Creates, schedules, and posts evaluation sets when courses conclude. Drafts faculty and student notifications and generates system reminders. Works with the Office of Graduate Programs to provide a separate schedule of evaluations for the Executive LLM courses. Fields student and faculty inquiries. Provides evaluation reports upon faculty request.

Exam Support and Administration (10%)

Exam review and reconciliation, student support, and communication with faculty. Assists with ODS and general exam proctoring as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

B.A. degree required. One to three years of relevant work experience is required. Demonstrated knowledge of Student Information Systems and Vergil preferred, and experience working with databases required. Proficiency with standard office software, including programs such as Microsoft Excel required. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required, as is the ability to work effectively and creatively with graduate students and faculty, as well as with administrators in other areas of the University.

Attention to detail and the ability to work both as part of a team and independently in a high volume/high pressure environment, managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously with short deadlines are essential. Evening and weekend work will be necessary during the CLS exam period.
