Position Summary

SUNY Ulster County Community College, a two‑year branch of the State University of New York located ninety miles north of New York City in the Catskill Mountains, is currently accepting applications for a Head Volleyball Coach. The Head Volleyball Coach reports to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for the organization and administration of the volleyball program, including coaching, recruiting, team travel, fundraising, and all other areas of volleyball operations.

Duties

and Responsibilities

The Head Volleyball Coach will develop effective and positive communication with students, faculty, alumni, and the community. Responsibilities include coaching, recruiting, budgeting, ensuring compliance with College, College Association, NJCAA Division II, Conference and Departmental rules, and supporting the student‑athlete concept. The coach will take an active leadership role in fundraising and public relations activities for the volleyball program and the Athletics Department as a whole.

Additional duties may be assigned in support of the department’s mission and goals.

Minimum Qualifications
  • HS diploma
  • Evidence of strong organizational and communication skills
  • Current knowledge of NCAA or NJCAA regulations
  • Ability to successfully recruit college‑level student athletes
  • Previous coaching experience
  • Evidence of a commitment to academic excellence, including athlete graduation
  • Ability to interact effectively with student‑athletes, colleagues, and the public
  • Capable and willing to actively plan and participate in fundraising, promotions, and related endeavors for the volleyball program and the Athletics Department
Additional Commitment
  • Commitment to community college goals and objectives of providing quality programs and services for culturally, socio‑economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students, including students with disabilities; and awareness of the needs of non‑traditional and/or re‑entry students.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or higher
  • Demonstrated recruiting of successful student athletes preferred
  • College coaching experience preferred
Salary

$8,500.00 for the entire contracted term of July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027.
