We are the fourth-largest public school system in New York State, serving nearly 22,000 predominantly Black and Hispanic students from low-income backgrounds. We lead the state in math and reading performance, and 100% of our graduates have been accepted to four-year colleges, including the most selective colleges in the country. We are entering a historic new chapter with expansion to Florida, starting in Miami-Dade County.

As a founding Assistant Principal, you will join a select cohort of Success Academy leaders and help launch our first schools in Florida. This is an opportunity to contribute to education reform while delivering a life-changing education for underserved children in Miami.

The Assistant Principal role is a high-impact leadership position for educators who want to develop adults, strengthen teaching and learning, and drive outstanding student outcomes across an entire school. The role focuses on people management to achieve high-quality learning for every student. The Assistant Principal takes ownership of schooling and instructional excellence across multiple grade levels and content areas, developing and holding teachers accountable to meet SA standards.

As a key member of the leadership team, the Assistant Principal communicates expectations with clarity and uses feedback and coaching to drive improvement in adult practice.

In close partnership with the Principal, the Assistant Principal helps lead school-wide systems, professional development, and family engagement to ensure excellence throughout the building. This position is designed as a pathway to the principalship, with readiness for the principal role within three years.

• Drive and monitor progress toward organizational priorities and outcomes.
• Uphold, communicate, and build investment in Success Academy standards for professionalism, instructional quality, and scholar work.
• Develop and coach adults with clear expectations, precise feedback, and accountability for meeting SA standards.
• Observe and monitor grade team and school wide culture, fostering a positive, results-driven environment grounded in professionalism and ownership.
• Set and maintain a high pace of change and improvement across teams.
• Diagnose gaps in instructional practice and mindsets, and provide direct, actionable coaching to drive fast improvement.

Success Academy offers leadership development starting with a year-long training program in New York City during the 2026-27 school year to prepare for the Assistant Principal role in Florida. The program focuses on managing and developing adults, driving instructional quality, and executing organizational priorities.

Our leadership program has a track record of developing principals who lead top-ranked public schools. You will gain experience to manage high-performing teams, drive school wide learning quality, and advance toward senior leadership within Success Academy in Florida.

• A year-long leadership training and development program in New York City with coaching and leadership opportunities tailored to the founding Florida AP cohort.
• Continued development after assuming the AP role in Florida in the summer, 2027.
• Preparation for future principalship within a high-performing school network.
