About Our School: Bay Ridge Prep, a student-centered, K-12 independent school located in Brooklyn, New York, seeks a highly qualified Math Teacher to join its Upper School (Grades 9-12) faculty for the  academic year.

About the Position

This is a full-time position in the Upper School Mathematics Department. Courses for the upcoming school year may include Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Precalculus, AP Precalculus, and potentially additional advanced offerings. The ideal candidate is a knowledgeable and passionate mathematics educator who excels at making complex concepts accessible to all learners and consistently demonstrates how math is relevant, applicable, and transformative in the modern world.

Responsibilities

Teaching four to five academic courses. Additional responsibilities include advising/moderating an after-school club or activity, attending weekly faculty meetings, holding office hours for students after school several days per week, and participating in planning sessions with other math teachers. Finally, the candidate should expect to support other school-wide duties.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess a Master’s degree or higher in Mathematics, Math Education, or a closely related field. The candidate should be motivated and capable of working with students possessing a wide range of capabilities, strengths, and weaknesses. While teaching experience is preferred, we will consider all qualified candidates. We are looking to hire a Math teacher who is passionate about math and the act of teaching it to a diverse population of adolescent learners.

Position

Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, in-person position that follows the academic calendar. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; faculty meetings occur on Wednesdays from 2:50 pm to 3:30 p.m. Evening work (e.g., parent-teacher meetings) may be required as job duties demand and will be scheduled in advance.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This job requires the ability to maintain the physical capacity required to navigate the school environment and ensure the safety of the students, and the ability to perform typical classroom and school-related physical activities, with or without reasonable accommodation. Classroom locations vary based on student schedules, and staff may need to teach from different rooms. This role routinely uses standard classroom and office equipment such as computers, phones, electronic devices, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc.

Occasional travel between school buildings may be required, scheduled with advanced notice, and the school buildings are within walking distance from each other.
