We are currently seeking an NYS Certified Special Education Teacher to help continue our legacy of making a lasting impact in the lives of young people .
Our school Grove St Academy is a NYSED Certified 853 special education school located on the campus of the Children's Home of Kingston in Kingston, NY. Grove St Academy provides necessary educational services for both day and residential students age range 8-21, grades 4th
-12th. Grove Street Academy specializes in small classroom settings and utilizes project-based learning on campus and in the community. We use a Trauma System Therapy approach throughout the campus and provide the students and their families with a system of support and interventions that are not available within the public education sectors.
Position Summary
An NYS Certified Special Education Teacher would be responsible for designing and maintaining effective educational programs within the classroom and school setting. It includes ongoing assessment of student abilities to develop IEP goals and targeted instructional interventions. The position also provides leadership and support to teaching assistants. Collaboration with clinicians, guidance counselors, and other professionals ensures a holistic approach to meeting each student’s educational and developmental needs.

Qualifications
Minimum:
- NYS Certification in Special Education
- Experience working with students with various cultural backgrounds
