ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION AND TRAINING
New York City, NY 10011
Compensation & ScheduleThis quarter‑time salaried position has a salary range of $20,000 – $25,000 annually. The role requires about 4 hours of in‑office time per week, with occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
Key Purpose of the PositionThe Associate Director of Education and Training drives the day‑to‑day operations of our Education and Training programs by:
- Engaging with students to ensure their needs are addressed
- Supporting teachers and teaching artists and clarifying their responsibilities
- Communicating with school partners to deliver seamless initiatives
- In conjunction with the Director of Education, strategize on how to expand Shakespeare in Schools' reach
- Spearhead outreach and communication with partner schools regarding residencies, student matinees, and in‑school tours
- Codify and improve feedback surveys with teachers and students
- Submit invoices and purchase orders to school partners and the NYCDOE through Polaris
- In conjunction with the Director of Education, strategize on how to expand Acting Intensives and class reach
- Write and provide copy for all acting intensives
- Line‑produce existing Acting Intensives and all classes, communicating with teachers, venues, and students in an organized manner
- Act as a Red Bull representative at classes, readings, and workshops
- Manage accessibility initiatives such as closed captioning for streamed readings and open captioning and ASL interpretation for Off‑Broadway productions
- Collaborate with Marketing and Operations to produce, edit, and publish monthly podcasts for the Red Bull Theater Podcast
- Moderate and organize free Bull Session discussion series, online seminars, and other educational engagement activities

- Self‑starter with strong work ethic and fine‑tuned attention to detail; able to work independently and with a team
- Thrives in an all‑hands‑on‑deck culture and enjoys collaborating to generate new ideas, tactics, and strategies
- Flexible enough to work some nights and weekends as needed for shows and events
- Passion for educating young people and lifelong learners
- Enthusiastic, outgoing, and skilled at engaging with people from all walks of life
Bonus if:
- Experience leading educational initiatives from conception to execution
- Experience teaching and/or devising curriculum for Shakespeare performance and study to amateurs, children, or professionals
- Experience implementing programs in partnership with NYC Public Schools and community‑based organizations
- Knowledge of NYC DOE Blueprints for Teaching and Learning in the Arts
- Experience with DOE purchasing mechanisms
- Love for Shakespeare and classical plays
