Trevor Day School is seeking a full-time Upper School Biology Teacher and Advisor for the 2026-27 academic year. Candidates should be prepared to teach classes to students in 9th through 12th grade, including advanced coursework. They should be adept at designing and delivering lessons that challenge and inspire students. They should also have a strong desire to work with a diverse student body and faculty in an open and collaborative environment.

All Trevor teachers serve as advisors and participate actively in the daily life of the school. For qualified candidates, there is also the possibility of serving as the Science Department Chair, a role that involves departmental leadership and curricular oversight.

Science classes are highly interactive with a focus on inquiry-based learning. Students are challenged to think critically and independently, consider alternative explanations for events, and solve problems creatively. Students acquire scientific literacy through guided discovery, cooperative learning, and investigation of real-world issues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred, as well as a minimum of three years of experience teaching biology.
  • School leadership experience preferred.
  • Enthusiasm for collaborating with colleagues on curriculum development.
  • Comfort with differentiating instruction to accommodate a range of learning styles.
  • Proficiency in using technology to enhance classroom learning.
  • Familiarity with AI as a teaching and learning tool.
  • Competence in designing authentic assessments that encourage original student voice and ensure academic integrity.
  • Proven ability to form strong, professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • A growth mindset and lifelong dedication to learning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility, creativity, patience, and a sense of humor.

The full-time salary range for this position is $75,000–$150,000 as per the school’s salary scale. When extending an employment offer, Trevor Day School bases the salary on several factors, including (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education, training, key skills, and peer salary equity. The school also offers a competitive benefits package.
