:
The Education Site Manager (ESM) manages the day-to-day operations of their assigned center and provides regular and ongoing leadership, oversight, and supervision to the center-based staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality, comprehensive services to children and families and continuous program improvement. - Compliance

The ESM ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including the Head Start Program Performance Standards, the Head Start Act, the NYC Department of Health, and NYC Department of Education regulations, as well as all BSECDC policies and procedures.

- Day-to-day operations: ensure adequate staffing, maintain required group sizes and staff/child ratios, assist in classroom as needed, maintain licensed facility compliance with NYC Department of Health regulations.
- Coordinate with Education Director and Coaches to implement program curricula with fidelity, promote children’s learning and development across all developmental domains outlined in the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework.
- Ensure teachers implement responsive, effective teaching practices that respect children and provide opportunities for expression; promote cultural competence and universal values of respect, compassion, and tolerance; incorporate global education, multiculturalism, and peaceful classroom concepts.
- Ensure all required child screenings and assessments are completed timely; monitor and respond to child outcomes data.
- Coordinate with the Health and Disabilities Coordinator for timely evaluations and appropriate services for children with identified disabilities; attend IEP/IFSP meetings if needed; participate in case management mental health meetings to improve outcomes.
- Establish professional relationships with parents based on trust; encourage communication and positive engagement; communicate effectively with empathy and adherence to BSECDC confidentiality policy; monitor teacher communication with families.
- Collaborate with the Family Services Coordinator to implement all ERSEA regulations and the Parent Engagement Plan; supervise the Family Assistant for effective delivery of family partnership services; monitor family goal setting and outcomes data.
- Provide support to the Family Assistant: facilitate open communication, provide updates on center activities, closings, parent meetings, absences, transitions, and other concerns; assist teachers with planning and implementing monthly Parent Class Meetings; ensure two parent‑teacher conferences and two home visits per child annually; assist with conference and home visit preparation.
- Monitor indoor/outdoor learning areas daily; observe the implementation of the daily schedule, teacher‑child interactions, teacher performance, child supervision, and safety practices; inspect classrooms monthly to ensure the environment is attractive, nurturing, clutter‑free, and conducive to child‑directed play; ensure emergency procedures are posted.
- Monitor family‑style meal time and CACFP meal counts to ensure accurate reimbursement data.
- Provide ongoing staff supervision, training, and professional development to address staff needs; ensure staff awareness of emergency and “Lost Child” policy at least three times per year.
- Support use of technology and data management systems; provide staff with a minimum of two reflective supervision meetings each year; hold monthly reflective supervision meetings with the Family Assistant; complete annual performance evaluations for all staff; establish and monitor goals and corrective action plans if needed.
