Special Education Teacher – ELA – Grades 1-8.

United Staffing a leader in the staffing industry has the privilege of assisting a small, private special education school in hiring a Certified ELA Special Education Teacher. The ideal candidate has experience working with Grades 1-8 in a special education setting and experience developing and preparing curriculum. A team spirit with the ability to collaborate with the support staff will result in a meaningful and successful teaching experience.

This is a 12-month program. Working during July and August is optional.

Salary: $75,000–$90,000 depending on experience.

Excellent benefits package – Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, PTO.

Hours – Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm. Occasional monthly meetings that may require light overtime.

• Motivate students and teach skills and strategies.
• Complete CPI training provided by school.
• Help students develop social skills.
• Incorporate various modes of learning.
• Responsible for writing the curriculum and various reports.
• Ability to work with a multi-sensory literary program.

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education.
• Valid NYS Special Education Certification.
• Certification in multi-sensory literary instruction (Orton Gillingham highly preferred).
• Minimum of 2 years previously teaching ELA in a special education setting.
• Working knowledge of IEPs.
• Experience working with children that have a variety of disabilities.
• Ability to work with parents, teachers and faculty.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to provide 3 employment references.
