The Ardsley School District is seeking a Part Time (.4) Italian Foreign Language Teacher for an anticipated position for the school year.
NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB:
Ardsley High School is seeking a dynamic and versatile World Language Teacher to provide instruction in Italian. The ideal candidate will deliver engaging, student-centered lessons that develop proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing, while fostering an appreciation for diverse cultures. This teacher will create an inclusive classroom environment and use a communicative approach to help students build real-world language skills.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and deliver standards-aligned instruction in both Italian at various proficiency levels
- Develop students' language skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing
- Incorporate cultural content and authentic materials into lessons
- Use a communicative and interactive approach to language instruction
- Assess student progress regularly and provide timely, constructive feedback
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
- Participate in curriculum development, faculty meetings, and professional development
- Bachelor's degree in Italian or related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Demonstrated proficiency in Italian (native or near-native fluency preferred)
- Experience teaching at the high school level preferred
- Strong understanding of language acquisition and communicative teaching methods
- Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually by building administration.
