The course is conducted in person on Bard's Annandale-on-Hudson campus. Classes meet twice weekly.

Bard CEP's GIS course provides students with the fundamentals of using spatial information, conducting spatial analysis, and producing high-quality cartographic products, including storymaps. Using ESRI's ArcGIS software and associated apps, students will learn to identify and assess the spatial distribution of environmental impacts across communities at the local, regional and national scale. The visiting faculty member is expected to advise students on their culminating course mapping project and to collaborate periodically with other Bard CEP faculty members as well as community partners.

A master's degree in environmental studies, geography, GIS, or a related degree, along with significant experience working in a professional GIS practice. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience and a demonstrated interest in environmental and social justice.
