Librarian – Children’s​/Youth Services; Chappaqua Library, NY

Do you love sparking curiosity, designing creative programs, and helping people discover new ideas? The Chappaqua Library is seeking a full-time youth services librarian to join our Youth Services team, working with kids and teens from birth to 18. The Chappaqua Library serves an enthusiastic library community, maintaining a robust programming schedule and an extensive book collection. Candidates will be expected to work 1-2 weekend days a month and one evening shift per week.

• A passionate librarian who loves helping people explore and learn.
• Tech-savvy and comfortable with library systems (Evergreen experience a plus!).
• Creative, collaborative, and adaptable — ready to bring new ideas to life.
• Culturally competent with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

• Provide reference and reader’s advisory services to children, teens and adults.
• Maintain familiarity with materials for ages birth to 18.
• Plan and conduct story times and other programs for children and teens.
• Select materials, including books and digital materials.
• Create displays, bibliographies and book bundles.
• Provide outreach and support to local schools and groups.
• Oversee Teen Advisory Board and volunteers and facilitate teen-led programming.
• Seek out professional development and maintain relevant competencies to serve ages birth through 18.
• Contribute to social media and library communications (website, newsletters, etc).
• Collaborate with other departments on intergenerational programming and library-wide initiatives.
• Undertake other responsibilities as appropriate.

• MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited or NYS-recognized program.
• Eligibility for a NYS Public Librarian Certificate (must have certificate at appointment).
• To be on the Westchester County Department of Human Services (Civil Service) list for Librarian I (Children’s Services).
