Job SummaryThe Youth & Family Manager will take primary ownership of LSQ’s youth discipleship (6th‑12th grade), while also contributing meaningfully to children’s ministry and family engagement. The role is structured around three areas of responsibility:
- Youth Ministry (6th–12th grade) – 60%
- Children’s Ministry (Infant–5th grade) – 20%
- Family Engagement – 20%
Primary point of contact and leader for LSQ’s youth discipleship ministry, collaborating closely with the LSQ Director of Family Ministries.
- LSQ Youth: Plan & facilitate community-building events; build trust‑based relationships with students; oversee logistics, curriculum, attendance, and parent communication; lead weekly youth gatherings, small groups, and one‑on‑one discipleship; develop and deliver gospel-centered teaching for large and small group settings.
- Student Discipleship: Build genuine ongoing relationships with middle and high school students—attending games, performances, and key life moments; mentor students individually and in community; lead Communicants Class, guiding students toward a deeper understanding of faith.
- Leadership Development: Recruit, train, and shepherd volunteer youth leaders; equip young adult volunteers to disciple students; conduct regular one‑on‑ones and community-building gatherings with volunteers; ensure volunteers are screened, trained, and compliant with LSQ child safety policies.
- Programming & Events: Plan and execute weekly youth programming; coordinate student participation in retreats, mission trips, service projects, and events; organize and lead opportunities for students to love and serve New York City.
- Family & Parent Engagement: Build trust‑based relationships with parents; conduct one‑on‑one meetings; assist in organizing parenting workshops; maintain consistent communication about youth events, invites, and registrations.
- City‑Wide Youth Coalition: Cultivate relationships with youth pastors and leaders across New York City; represent LSQ in the broader gospel-centered youth ministry ecosystem; explore and develop a city‑wide coalition; identify opportunities for shared events and resource sharing.
Contribute meaningfully to LSQ’s children’s ministry, supporting the Director of Family Formation.
- Sunday Coordination: Assist with logistics, curriculum, classroom management, attendance, and parent communication for children’s programming; rotate with ministry staff for Sunday morning management; maintain welcoming and safe environment; provide administrative support; database management; participate in planning and leading VBS.
Build a culture where families feel welcomed, known, and equipped to grow as disciples.
- Community Building: Integrate families into LSQ life, building bridges between ministries; plan and execute seasonal programs, family events, and community-building activities; create environments of belonging; collaborate with Family Ministry team on cross‑ministry events.
- Parent Discipleship & Resources: Provide resources for parents; lead or facilitate parent workshops, small groups, and informational gatherings; build relationships as pastoral care point.
- Vision & Strategic Contribution: Contribute ideas and creative solutions to long‑term vision; participate in weekly family ministry meetings; collaborate across departments for alignment.
- Embrace LSQ’s vision and have a gospel‑oriented heart for New York City.
- Align with core theological principles of LSQ and the Presbyterian Church of America, including the Westminster Confession.
