Overview

Status: Sundog is actively seeking teaching artists for school year  in the following discipline:
Choral. The Teaching Artist – Choral reports to the Arts Education Manager.

Job Responsibilities

Sundog Theatre is looking for versatile and flexible teaching artists who are excited to be part of a creative team. Applicants should have experience working with youth. The ideal candidate will possess good classroom management skills. This is a part-time position during school hours or after school from 2-4pm.

Job Requirements and

Qualifications:

Teaching artists should be proficient in their own fields of art and be able to teach their discipline/s to young people that range from K-12th grades. Excellent classroom management and organizational skills required. Must be able to create and implement successful lesson plans incorporating NY State Learning Standards and the NYC Blueprints for Teaching & Learning in the Arts. Experience teaching K-12th grade range.

Experience in NYC schools is preferred. Applicants should possess good interpersonal skills and be able to collaborate effectively with classroom teachers. Experience with District 75/special needs children and English Language Learners is desirable but not required. Being bilingual is desirable but not required.

Education Requirements

It is preferred that applicants possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in an arts/related field or have relevant experience teaching an art form/s.

Compensation

Starts at $50 hour, based on experience.
