At Bronx Arts, we see teaching as an art form. The Director of Curriculum & Instruction is a key member of the school’s leadership team, responsible for driving the quality of teaching and learning across the building.
Reporting to the Principal, this role leads curriculum development and implementation while providing ongoing feedback, modeling, and coaching to teachers. The Director ensures that instruction is rigorous, aligned, and consistently executed across classrooms.
This role also plays a critical part in managing the day‑to‑day instructional life of the building—maintaining a strong presence in classrooms, supporting staff, and ensuring systems are implemented with fidelity.
Key Responsibilities Instructional Leadership- Provide regular, high‑quality feedback to teachers through classroom observations
- Coach teachers through planning, instruction, and classroom culture
- Model strong instructional practices through demonstration lessons and co‑teaching
- Ensure consistent, high‑quality instruction across all classrooms
- Lead the development, revision, and implementation of curriculum aligned to NYS standards
- Review and monitor lesson plans and weekly instructional overviews
- Ensure curriculum is rigorous, coherent, and reflects Bronx Arts’ instructional vision
- Support arts integration and experiential learning across content areas
- Lead the development and implementation of assessment systems
- Analyze student data and lead data‑driven conversations with teachers and teams
- Ensure instructional decisions are grounded in student performance and outcomes
- Plan and lead weekly faculty meetings and professional development sessions
- Develop and manage the school’s professional development calendar
- Build teacher capacity through targeted coaching and training
- Oversee and support Instructional Coaches in their work with teachers
- Maintain a strong, visible presence across classrooms and throughout the building
- Support the day‑to‑day instructional operations of the school
- Ensure systems, expectations, and instructional priorities are implemented consistently
- Partner closely with the Principal and Executive Director on school‑wide initiatives
- Support recruitment, selection, and retention of high‑quality instructional staff
- Participate in interviews and make hiring recommendations
- Foster a strong, collaborative, high‑expectations professional culture
- A highly effective educator with a strong track record of improving student outcomes
- Strong instructional leader with deep knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment
- Skilled coach who can provide clear, direct, and actionable feedback to teachers
- Excellent writer and communicator
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive decision‑making
- Organized, detail‑oriented, and systems‑driven
- Collaborative leader who builds strong, positive team culture
- Passion for the arts and belief in creativity as a driver of student success
- Bachelor’s degree required;
Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or related field preferred - New York State Teaching Certification required
- Minimum of 8 years of teaching experience required (leadership experience strongly preferred)
- Experience in an urban school setting preferred
$100,000 to $110,000
Compensation packages are competitive and commensurate with experience. Benefits include:
