This is a full-time, on-site Preschool Lead Teacher/Teacher Assistant role located in Brooklyn, NY. The Preschool Lead Teacher/Teacher Assistant supports the creation of a safe, nurturing classroom environment and implements developmentally appropriate activities that promote learning in early literacy, early mathematics, social‑emotional skills, and physical development. Daily responsibilities include assisting with lesson planning, preparing classroom materials, guiding small‑ and large‑group activities, and supporting children’s individual learning needs.
The role involves supervising children at all times, assisting with routines such as meals, rest time, and transitions, and maintaining a clean, organized classroom. The Preschool Lead Teacher/Teacher Assistant also communicates regularly with families, collaborates with colleagues, and participates in staff meetings and professional development.
- Experience in Assistant Teaching or leading groups of young children in a preschool or early childhood setting.
- Strong communication skills, including clear, respectful interaction with children, families, and coworkers.
- Background in Education or Early Childhood Education, or relevant coursework, training, or certifications.
- Proven ability and interest in working with children, including patience, empathy, and positive behavior guidance.
- High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice and early childhood learning standards.
- Ability to meet physical demands of the role, including sitting on the floor, lifting small children when needed, and active participation in play.
- Reliability, punctuality, and readiness to work collaboratively as part of a diverse team.
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain is a plus.
