Location: New York

Position Summary

The Children’s Aid After school in Action Program/Teen Program at the Salome Urena Campus is an after school enrichment program operating Monday through Friday, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm. The Tutor will assist the group Facilitator to provide tutorial help with homework, additional educational instruction, social emotional learning, and opportunities to engage middle school age children in sports and art-based activities.

$17.00/hour

Essential Duties
  • Understand and promote the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Facilitator with the supervision and care of up to 20 children, forming a group or club.
  • Teach by modeling and demonstrate characteristics that participants can learn from.
  • Engage middle school age children in fun learning activities while providing a safe and respectful environment.
  • Provide individual and group tutoring in reading, writing, mathematics, and study skills.
  • Assist in the design, planning, and execution of special projects in and out of the program.
  • Maintain punctuality, responsibility, a positive attitude, and encouragement for children.
  • Support orderly program operation by supervising children during supper, ensuring proper sign‑out of CA devices, cleaning and returning equipment, and organizing games.
  • Attend regular staff meetings, trainings, and collaborate with other staff members in the program and schools.
  • Be available from September through June for the after‑school enrichment program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

High School student or pursuing an associate or a bachelor’s degree.

Key Competencies
  • At least one year of experience working with children, tutoring, or teaching is highly preferred.
  • Field of study in Education or Social Work.
