The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position SummaryThe Coordinator is part of a team of professional staff who provide administrative and programmatic support to Law School faculty and researchers. Coordinators facilitate the teaching, scholarship, and service of full-time faculty, and support the activities of affiliated research centers and programs.
Responsibilities- Support multiple professors of law, research scholars, and/or visiting professors in preparing and executing their courses and seminars, including compiling and organizing course materials; editing syllabi and updating course websites (using Course Works); communicating with students; and interfacing with teaching assistants. Schedules meetings, TA sessions, and makeup classes; and receives visitors.
- Plans and coordinates events and programs (such as academic seminars, colloquia, special events, and conferences), arranging publicity, catering, travel arrangements, reimbursements and honoraria.
- Arranges travel on behalf of faculty and visitors, plans itineraries and prepares travel and business expense reports for submission to the Business Office via Concur.
- Works with faculty, students, and Office of Judicial Clerkships to prepare and send clerkship and other letters of recommendation.
- Acts as liaison between professors, fellows, guest speakers, students, scholars, and other academic institutions.
- Performs basic legal research using Westlaw, Lexis Nexis and other legal software databases.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Associate Director, Faculty Support.
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Three years of highly successful administrative experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
- Ability to work creatively and independently is necessary.
- Must be adaptable in learning and implementing new technologies as needed for maximizing task performance. Must be well-organized, detail-oriented, and work well under pressure, managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a high volume operation.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills essential. Tact and diplomacy and the ability to exercise judgment in matters that are sensitive and confidential required.
- Must be able to work with diverse constituencies and support an inclusive work environment.
