Part Time Position Summary
The Assistant Director of College Guidance is responsible for supporting the implementation of a comprehensive, student-centered college counseling program s role involves advising students and families throughout the college search and application process, writing counselor recommendation letters, teaching a College Guidance Seminar course, and helping to coordinate college-related programming and communication. This is a part-time position requiring a three-day work week, responsiveness to email the other two days, and occasional work on evenings and weekends.
Objectives- Support the delivery of a holistic and developmentally appropriate college counseling program for students in grades 9–12
- Guide and counsel students and families throughout the college application process
- Compose counselor letters of recommendation and provide peer review of colleague letters
- Teach the College Guidance Seminar and contribute to ongoing student programming
- Build and maintain professional relationships with college admissions officers and represent Ramaz at external events
- Educate students and parents about the college search and application process, providing thoughtful and ethical guidance
- Compose comprehensive and compelling counselor letters of recommendation for each senior counselee
- Serve as the college advisor for approximately 12–15 students per grade
- Meet with students in grades 9–12 as a group and individually to implement a developmentally appropriate college counseling curriculum
- Support and inform parents through one-on-one meetings and ongoing communication
- Teach the College Guidance Seminar course
- Read and provide constructive feedback on college essays and supplemental writing
- Help plan and lead college-related informational programs for students, parents, and faculty
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with college admission officers
- Willingness to attend national conferences and college tour programs
- Collaborate as a member of the College Guidance team and contribute to a positive, student-focused environment
- Be available to support and/or attend college-related programs and events, including those held in the evenings and on weekends
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of College Guidance
- Strong understanding of the college admissions landscape, including standardized testing, application procedures, and essay preparation
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to support and communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, particularly in the context of recommendation letters and student application materials
- Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple timelines and priorities
- Team-oriented and collaborative with a strong commitment to student success and well‑being
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in college guidance counseling or college admissions
- Strong interpersonal skills

Full time annualized salary of $60,000 - $85,000 (commensurate with relevant experience and education). The amount is prorated accordingly for a part time schedule.
