Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to join our middle school as an Assistant Principal. The Assistant Principal will play a crucial role in supporting the school's leadership team in fostering a positive and enriching learning environment. This individual will work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, students, and parents to ensure the overall success and well-being of the school community.

Responsibilities:

Curriculum Oversight:

* Collaborates with teachers and department chairs to ensure alignment with educational standards.

* Monitors and evaluate instructional practices to enhance teaching effectiveness.

* Supports the development and implementation of innovative teaching methods.

Student Discipline and Behavior Management:

* Enforces school policies and procedures to maintain a safe and respectful learning environment.

* Addresses disciplinary issues promptly and fairly, promoting a positive school culture.

* Implements restorative practices to foster a sense of responsibility and accountability among students.

* Maintains accurate and up-to-date records in our student management system of student investigations and behavior trends.

Teacher Support and Development:

* Provides guidance and mentorship to teachers for professional growth.

* Visits classrooms daily.

* Supervises and evaluates teaching staff and other building employees in accordance with the school district's evaluation plan, and makes recommendations regarding goals, areas needing improvement and continued employment.

* Collaborates with educators to develop strategies for student success.

Parent and Community Engagement:

* Fosters positive relationships with parents through effective communication.

* Organizes and participate in parent-teacher conferences and events.

* Engages with the community to build support and partnerships for the school.

* Attends after school and evening events.

School Leadership:

* Collaborates with the principal in developing and implementing school policies and strategic plans.

* Represents the school at meetings, conferences, and other relevant events.

* Assists in the day-to-day operations of the school as needed.

* Professional Development:

* Participates in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with trends, methodologies, and advancements. This includes attending workshops, seminars and professional meetings such as Leadership Council, Instructional Council and the summer Administrative Institute.

* Collaborate with fellow administrators and staff to share best practices and enhance the overall learning experience for students.

Other:

* Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Qualifications:

* A Master's degree and appropriate New York State certification as a School Building Leader (SBL) School District Administrator (SDA), or School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS).

* At least five years of successful experience as a teacher.

* Knowledge of current trends and best practices in education, including assessment systems and data-driven instruction.

* Demonstrated effective building leadership skills.

* Demonstrated proficiency with technology.

* Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive educational environment.

* The ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

* The ability to work collaboratively with peers and colleagues.

* Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance and professional growth.
