Upper School Mathematics Teacher – 2025-26
At the Quad Preparatory School you will teach secondary mathematics (grades 6‑12) with a focus on Pre‑Calculus and Calculus in classes of no more than ten students, including one‑to‑one and dyad instruction.
Responsibilities- Plan and implement high‑quality, engaging mathematics lessons that are differentiated to meet students’ learning needs.
- Regularly assess students and curriculum, adapt instruction as appropriate, and communicate assessment results to parents.
- Subscribe to and implement the school’s philosophy of progressive and personalized education for twice‑exceptional children.
- Collaborate with psychosocial teachers to plan and implement an integrated executive‑functioning program within the academic curriculum.
- Map and evaluate curriculum.
- Collaborate with other mathematics faculty to ensure a vertically aligned K‑12 mathematics program.
- Develop and teach elective courses.
- Create and maintain an orderly, aesthetic learning environment that addresses students’ social, emotional, and executive‑functioning needs.
- Maintain accurate records using the learning management system Veracross and carefully managed portfolios of student work.
- Empower students to take charge of their learning by providing scaffolding, modeling, materials, and consistently maintaining a high level of expectation.
- Collaborate with academic and psychosocial staff to plan, integrate, and facilitate cross‑curricular, inquiry‑based projects.
- Communicate with parents and guardians through conferences, written reports, phone calls, and emails.
- Follow the professional code, policies, and conduct oneself in a way that promotes the mission of the school.
- Utilize Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets).
- Attend faculty and staff meetings, professional development sessions, and required special events such as open houses, Curriculum Night, and Carnivale.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including serving as an academic advisor and/or leading a student club during the school day.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in special education, mathematics education, mathematics, or a related field.
- Minimum one year of experience teaching mathematics to middle and/or high‑school students or college undergraduates.
Education and Experience
- At least three years of experience as a full‑time high‑school mathematics teacher.
- Master’s degree in mathematics education, mathematics, special education, or a related field.
- Special education training, including training in gifted education and twice‑exceptional youth.
- Secondary Mathematics and/or Special Education teaching credential.
- Experience teaching twice‑exceptional youth.
This role operates in a school setting on the 5th and 6th floors of a building with an elevator and occasional travel to a lower‑school campus two blocks away.
Physical DemandsRegular talking and listening, continuous standing, walking, climbing stairs, and occasional lifting of items under 20 pounds. Typing is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
Position Type and Expected Hours of WorkFull‑time exempt position. Teachers work ten months per year (late August to late June) in the academic day (Monday‑Friday, 8 a.m.—4 p.m.) with occasional evening or weekend hours as needed.
