Principal Responsibilities CAMP OVERVIEWCamp Twelve Trails offers specialty and traditional day camp programs for children from Kindergarten through 10th grade. The program comprises five Neighborhoods (elective tracks):
Play, Create, Explore, Discover, and Grow, allowing campers to strengthen skills in their favorite specialties while encouraging them to explore new areas.
Our program is rooted in universally shared values central to Jewish life. These values are incorporated into everything we do, with the hope that they encourage both staff and campers to be the best versions of themselves.
POSITION OVERVIEWThe Inclusion Coordinator assists in the implementation of our overall inclusion model by providing essential support and guidance to Inclusion counselors who work directly with campers requiring additional support. Responsibilities include assisting in de‑escalation and implementing appropriate interventions to ensure the safety and well‑being of all involved. The Coordinator plays a key role in developing and implementing behavior management plans tailored to each camper's needs.
Through careful assessment and collaboration with the inclusion leadership team and camp staff, the Coordinator identifies triggers and underlying factors contributing to challenging behaviors, providing guidance on effective strategies for managing and modifying these behaviors in a positive and supportive manner. Additionally, the Coordinator maintains ongoing communication with parents, providing updates on their child's progress and addressing concerns.
- Assist with pre‑camp check‑in phone calls to families of new and returning Inclusion campers, gathering important information about their needs and ensuring a smooth transition.
- Review camper intake forms, IEPs, and/or 504 plans.
- Support the development of pre‑camp staff training sessions focused on inclusion strategies, behavior management techniques, and de‑escalation tactics.
- Assist with assigning Inclusion counselors to campers based on specific needs and counselor skill sets.
- Attend all weekly leadership meetings in May and additional Inclusion Committee meetings in May and June.
- Attend the Zoom Inclusion Family Webinar in May.
- Assist with the implementation of support for campers in the Inclusion Program.
- Provide ongoing guidance and support to Inclusion Counselors.
- Offer strategies and techniques for managing behaviors in a positive and supportive manner.
- Regularly observe campers in camp activities to assess progress and ensure inclusion strategies are effectively implemented.
- Act as a resource for staff in managing crisis situations calmly and effectively.
- Assist staff in developing and implementing behavior management plans for children with challenging behaviors.
- Assist with sensory breaks or accommodations to help campers self‑regulate and remain engaged throughout the day.
- Support staff in implementing behavior plans and reward systems tailored to individual needs.
- Help create visual schedules and other visual resources.
- Assist in performance evaluations of Inclusion Counselors throughout summer, formally and informally.
- Collaborate with specialists and Tribe Leaders.
- Seasonal
- Mondays through Fridays, June 29 – August 14, 2026, including 40–45 hours of staff training in May and June.
Hours:
8:00 am–5:00 pm during the summer.
Salary Range: $6,500.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, special education, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with children or individuals with special needs, preferably in a camp, school, or recreational setting.
- Knowledge and leadership in promoting the physical, intellectual, social, cultural, and emotional well‑being of children.
- Strong understanding of Inclusion, behavior management techniques, and crisis intervention strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a team.
