Fordham Prep is a Catholic Jesuit college preparatory school for young men located on the Rose Hill Bronx campus adjacent to Fordham University in New York City. Founded in 1841, the school enrolls approximately 950 students in grades 9‑12 and draws young men of diverse backgrounds from throughout the boroughs of New York City and its surrounding suburbs.
The PositionFordham Prep seeks a full‑time Modern Languages teacher for the 2026‑2027 academic year, with need in the area of French. The position entails teaching five class sections. The ideal applicant should be fluent in French and possess at least a bachelor’s degree in the subject area; a master’s degree is preferred. Applicants should demonstrate proficiency with current world language methodologies, the ability to teach across the various levels of the curriculum, a willingness to collaborate with others, and strong classroom‑management skills.
They should also have teaching experience at the high‑school level and familiarity with standards from the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) and Diplôme d’études en langue française (DELF) exams. The ability to teach other modern or classical languages would be an asset. Other languages offered at the Prep include Mandarin, Italian, Spanish, Latin, and Ancient Greek.
Candidates
Ideal candidates will bring experience working with adolescents in a secondary‑school setting and be able to support the school’s mission of fostering young men of academic excellence and good moral character through a commitment to the ideals of Jesuit education.
Additional faculty responsibilities include proctoring, student mentoring, and department meetings. As Ignatian educators, faculty are expected to demonstrate involvement in the larger school community, i.e., participating in student retreats, attending student programs/events, moderating a student club, and supporting student formation programs in our Catholic, Jesuit tradition. Participation in non‑tenured and Ignatian formation programmes for new faculty and staff is required.

Fordham Preparatory School is an EOE (Equal Opportunity Employer). This is a 10‑month tenure‑track faculty position (September to June) with all staff benefits, including medical, retirement, and tuition remission at Fordham Preparatory School and Fordham University. Salary is set by the faculty scale based on academic credentials and teaching experience (range $65‑92K).
