Bard High School Early College Queens Chemistry Laboratory Technician

Bard High School Early College (BHSEC), a partnership between Bard College and the NYC Department of Education (NYDOE), seeks a full‑time long‑term Chemistry Laboratory Technician to support its high school and college chemistry curriculum during the NYC public school academic year.

• Order materials, prepare reagents, standardize solutions, and distribute inventory for teaching laboratories.
• Set up and supervise student laboratory experiments, ensuring safety and proper technique.
• Maintain the teaching laboratory and prep room, including cleaning glassware, maintaining equipment (FT‑IR, rotary evaporator, pH meters, water purification system), and keeping accurate chemical inventories.
• Supervise students during experiments and enforce laboratory safety procedures.

• B.A. or B.S. in Chemistry.
• Knowledge of laboratory techniques and safety procedures, including analytical balances, volumetric glassware, and organic solvents.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
• Commitment to advancing equity in a school environment accessible to all students.

Salary: $45,000 to $55,000 per year. Benefits include health insurance options, TIAA retirement plans, generous vacation, sick, and personal time, and more.
