Part‑Time Building Trades Trainer – Buffalo Build Program
Position Title:
Part‑Time Building Trades Trainer – Buffalo Build Program.
The Buffalo Educational Opportunity Center (BEOC) is seeking a Part‑Time Building Trades Trainer to teach courses covering foundational construction knowledge, financial literacy, safety protocols, equipment operation, materials management, and sustainable practices to students in the Buffalo Build Skilled Trades Pre‑Apprenticeship Program. Candidates should be able to deliver lessons in seated, remote, and online formats.
Academic Responsibilities and Essential Functions- Develop and deliver engaging lectures, presentations, and hands‑on activities.
- Provide mentorship and guidance, fostering understanding of theory and practice.
- Incorporate real‑world examples, case studies, and guest speakers.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of advancements and regulations, recommending updates to course content.
- Facilitate discussions and collaborative projects that promote critical thinking, problem‑solving, and teamwork.
- Encourage exploration of multiple building trades and career pathways.
- Offer constructive feedback and evaluation to support academic growth.
- One year of professional experience in construction‑related workforce development, including hands‑on construction work.
- Experience in financial literacy, work‑site safety, and sustainable practices.
- Cultural competence and ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
- Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
- Five years of construction industry experience.
- Proficiency in instructional design principles and educational technology.
- Knowledge of multiple content areas and diversity issues.
- Prior teaching or training at the college or university level.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and collaborative mindset.
- Availability for evening hours.
- Knowledge of Microsoft software and educational databases.
- Experience working with academically underprepared or economically disadvantaged adults.
$50.00 – $55.00 per hour.
