Williamsburg Charter High School (WCHS) is a high‑performing public charter high school in Brooklyn, New York. Founded in August 2004, WCHS offers a rigorous liberal arts education that includes the arts, technology, and critical‑thinking skills. The school supports students academically and socially through individualized instruction, extended periods, after‑school, and Saturday programs.

WCHS was the first Chancellor‑authorized charter high school in the City of New York. Its mission is to unite youth, families, staff, teachers, and the community by preparing students to become skilled workers and literate citizens. The school serves students with diverse needs, including English Language Learners and those requiring Special Education Services, and provides supportive, tuition‑free education via a random lottery.

The department blends dance, theatre, and music to engage students creatively. Courses culminate in performances, encouraging student participation in the creative process. New state‑of‑the‑art dance and recording studios support a growing program that now includes Dance, Musical Theatre, Choir, and an introductory recording studio.

We seek candidates who can join our collaborative team in one or more disciplines, bring a passion for teaching and performing arts, and develop innovative approaches to share that passion with students.

Required qualifications and duties include: teaching all genres and styles of dance (modern, ballet, jazz, hip hop, Latin, musical theatre, cultural forms, choreography, improvisation); collaborating with music and theatre teachers; building a comprehensive performing‑arts program that incorporates 21st‑century learning skills; integrating dance into the Common Core and literacy initiatives; engaging the larger school community in dance; and connecting students to dance opportunities throughout Greater New York City.

• Two years of teaching experience in an urban high school (preferred)
• Prior teaching experience preferred
• New York State Fingerprint clearance
