Job Description:

The SUNY Cobleskill Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP) is a New York State Education Dept. grant-funded dropout prevention program serving youth in grades 6 through 12, and their families, in 6 school districts within the counties of Schoharie, Delaware, and Otsego. This position is offered by The Research Foundation of the State University of New York, a not-for-profit private entity that administers research projects for SUNY campuses (http://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).).

Employment is not affiliated with the State of New York or the State University of New York. LPP strives to ensure that program participants graduate from high school and enter post-secondary education and/or the workforce as highly competent young adults.

The Program Director is the chief administrative officer of the Liberty Partnerships Program at SUNY Cobleskill, its sponsoring Institute of Higher Education (IHE) and will report to assigned IHE personnel as well as the assigned program officers of the grant-funder, New York State Education Department (NYSED).

The Program Director will be responsible for the overall management of the program, which includes, but is not limited to such duties as...
  • Assisting the IHE in the development and submission of the LPP Request for Proposal, when required
  • Understanding project goals and developing plans to meet said goals
  • Hiring, training, and supervising staff
  • Establishing and maintaining partnerships with its sponsoring Institute of Higher Education (IHE) as well as school districts and local Community Based Organizations (CBOs) in a collaborative effort to meet project goals
  • Managing student enrollment
  • Managing student data collection
  • Evaluating and assessing data to achieve project goals
  • Creating and maintaining the project budget, including amendments, reports, and the paying of bills
  • Completing mandatory reports within established time frames
  • Planning and implementing student, parent, or stakeholder events
  • Participating in professional development
  • Participating in Statewide LPP activities, such as chairing or joining committees
  • Maintaining contact with the grant-funder, NYSED, for updates and program compliance
  • Being willing and able to work the occasional non-traditional hours (some overnights, weekend, and evening hours)
  • Managing any media related to LPP, such as its website and Facebook page
The Program Director should demonstrate the following skills and attributes:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Attentive to details and adaptable
  • Able to work on multiple tasks at any given time
  • Community minded
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a social service or educational field
  • 2+ years of successful administrative experience in a social or educational program that demonstrates experience in implementing grant-funded or similar projects
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in a social service or educational field
  • 1+ year of successful administrative experience in a social or educational program that demonstrates experience in implementing grant funded or similar projects
  • Experience in creating and maintaining a budget
  • Experience in data collection, management, and evaluation
  • Experience in hiring, training, and supervising staff
Additional Information:

Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000
Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk), 12-month
