Position SummaryThe New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) Office of Food and Nutrition Services (OFNS) is dedicated to providing NYC’s 1 million students with access to healthy food choices with the highest nutritional standards. OFNS has a critical impact on the overall education of students. With over 8,000 employees and an approximately $550 million budget, the organization has a significant influence on the national school food industry and the eating habits of future generations.
In addition to day-to-day operations, OFNS is working on several initiatives that will add overall value to work performed and support high-level Chancellor and Mayoral initiatives.
The OFNS Cafeteria Enhancement Experience (CEE) program initiative is aimed at transforming the cafeteria experience for students in NYCPS. The program focuses on modernizing cafeteria environments, enhancing food appeal, and increasing student participation in school meals.
The Cafeteria Enhancement Experience (CEE) Program Coordinator will perform functions related to operational advancement and communications with a high degree of efficiency and customer service, assisting in the implementation of community development programs within the Office of Food and Nutritional Services. The selected candidate will monitor and evaluate various initiatives that support not only NYCPS, but New York City forms related work.

Key Relationships: Relationships will be fostered with OFNS staff, and with interested stakeholders regarding Mayoral Initiatives in the NYCPS and in other NYC agencies.
Responsibilities- Leads planning and logistics for workshops, meetings, and events related to the CEE program.
- Oversees the production of surveys to assess existing programs and plans related to food services for the public at large and other factors of community and organizational importance.
- Works cross-functionally on a routine basis with OFNS staff and management regarding operational initiatives to ensure successful outcomes.
- Provides the best outcomes regarding community and organizational needs.
- Reviews the administrative requirements associated with OFNS and CEE equipment and services to ensure compliance with established guidelines.
- Supports CEE program operations including communications, scheduling, and data tracking.
- Assists with the procurement of supplies and materials needed for CEE program activities.
- Supports with the evaluation of vendors to ensure they meet established requirements to support the modernization and redesign of school cafeterias.
- Tracks key performance indicators to support Director in analyzing and evaluating program progress and effectiveness.
- Prepares planning documents and reports required for funding mayoral initiatives, including the CEE program.
- Assists in developing and updating an inventory system for CEE program supplies and equipment, tracking condition and replacement needs to ensure efficient and safe program rollout.
- Assess existing operational programs related to the cafeteria enhancement experience and plans related to public food services as well as other factors of community and organizational importance.
- Assists with the rollout of major changes to school food services, including various operational Mayoral initiatives.
- Provides technical assistance and training to affected staff in program implementation and management.
Minimum qualifications:
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
- High school graduation or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
- Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least one (1) year of experience as described in “1” above.
