Position OverviewThe Middle School Fine and Applied Arts Orchestra Teacher is responsible for cultivating a learning environment where all students feel safe and confident to strive toward and meet Brilla’s ambitious goals. The role requires a deep mastery of and passion for the arts, the ability to engage all students in grades five through eight with classical content, and a commitment to fostering holistic growth and appreciation for the transcendentals of Goodness, Truth, and Beauty.

- Holistic Development of Scholars: Foster an inviting, growth‑oriented classroom that supports academic and character formation.
- Curriculum and Instruction: Plan lessons that are classically inspired, inquiry‑based, rigorous, and aligned with scope, sequence, and standards; implement innovative teaching strategies to inspire curiosity.
- Quarterly Showcase: Plan and execute school‑wide showcases that exhibit the artistic achievements of all students.
- Promotion of Critical Thinking: Cultivate higher‑order thinking skills, enhancing analysis, creation, synthesis, and evaluation.
- Data‑Driven Instruction: Use student data to strengthen achievement and growth through targeted interventions and personalized instruction.
- Relationship Building for Success: Develop strong student and family connections, fostering passion for learning and success.
- Collaborative Engagement & Continuous Improvement: Build productive relationships with colleagues, parents, and the community while engaging in ongoing professional development, reflecting on achievement, and managing time effectively.
- Intellectual Preparation: Participate in weekly collaborative planning and professional development with other orchestra teachers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Relentless dedication to providing students with an academically robust, inspiring, and joyful learning experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution, preferably within the content area.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
- Current teaching certification for middle school and/or content teaching (strongly preferred).
- Relevant urban, middle school teaching experience with demonstrated student results (preferred).
- Special Education credential and experience (strongly preferred).
- Spanish language proficiency (preferred).
