POSITION
ESP Coordinator
LOCATIONAlbany High Complex
JOB SUMMARYThe ESP Coordinator will assist in the development, coordination, and implementation of programs and services for students receiving special education services. The coordinator will provide instructional and compliance support to special education staff, facilitate the implementation of state and federal special education requirements, and assist with the development and monitoring of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The position supports the district's commitment to providing high-quality educational opportunities for exceptional students.
MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS
- T-5 Certification in Special Education
- Minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience in a special education setting
- Minimum of three (3) years of administrative experience with knowledge of special education practices and procedures
- Working knowledge of special education due process requirements
- Excellent communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate
- Knowledge of state and federal special education regulations and procedures
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with administrators, teachers, parents, and community stakeholders
- Ability to analyze data and maintain accurate records
- Ability to provide training and support to instructional staff
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet required timelines
- Assist the Director in developing, coordinating, and implementing Exceptional Student Programs and curriculum initiatives
- Provide direct and indirect support to special education teachers related to instructional programming
- Collaborate with regular education and special education personnel to interpret and implement state and federal guidelines
- Schedule, attend, and facilitate meetings related to determining services for students referred to the Exceptional Students Program
- Coordinate the continuation of services for transferring special education students
- Assist school personnel in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Observe and evaluate special education teachers and provide constructive support
- Utilize Student Information Systems for data collection and reporting
- Maintain working knowledge of GO-IEP and related special education systems
- Ensure accurate collection and reporting of student data
- Provide guidance regarding due process procedures and special education compliance requirements
- Conduct professional learning and training related to IEP development and due process procedures
- Review special education documentation to monitor compliance with state and federal regulations
- Participate in professional development activities related to assigned responsibilities
- Maintain current knowledge of developments, research, and best practices in special education
- Follow all federal and state laws, Board policies, and administrative procedures
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
