Position Overview

Hewlett Woodmere Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and dynamic full-time Social Studies teacher to join our faculty beginning August 26, 2026. This position may include a split assignment between both schools, serving students in grades 7–12. The ideal candidate is a collaborative educator committed to fostering critical thinking, civic engagement, and academic excellence across diverse learners.

Key Responsibilities

Teach Social Studies courses across multiple grade levels (7–12), including various academic levels

Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction aligned to NYSED frameworks

Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including ICT (Integrated Co-Teaching) environments

Develop and implement assessments to measure student learning and growth

Collect, analyze, and use student data to inform instruction and improve outcomes

Collaborate with colleagues, co-teachers, and support staff to enhance student success

Maintain a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment

Communicate effectively with students, families, and school staff

Qualifications

Valid NYSED Certification in Social Studies (Grades 7–12 required)

Strong knowledge of NYSED Social Studies standards and frameworks

Experience teaching AP U.S. History preferred

Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver effective instruction across grade levels

Experience working in collaborative and ICT classroom settings

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Commitment to continuous professional growth
