Primary Responsibilities- Classroom Instruction – Middle School:
Design and deliver the core drama curriculum for all students in Grades 5 through
8. Upper School:
Teach one specialized Acting elective (Method, Shakespeare, or Contemporary Scene Study). Interdisciplinary Work:
Collaborate with core faculty to integrate public speaking and performance skills into academic projects. - Production & Direction – Oversee a robust three-show season:
Fall:
Direct one Middle School Musical;
Fall:
Direct one Upper School Play;
Spring:
Direct one Upper School Musical. Production Management:
Recruit, hire, and supervise freelance technical staff (lighting, sound, etc.) and manage the production budget in coordination with the Department Chair. Sustainability:
Curate and maintain the costume and prop collection with a commitment to sustainable practices. - Faculty & Community Engagement – Serve as a Middle School Homeroom Advisor and mentor; participate in standard faculty duties, including lunch supervision and staff meetings; contribute to the school's commitment to culturally responsive pedagogy by selecting diverse repertoire and ensuring equitable casting practices.
- Education:
Master’s degree in Theater, Education, or a related field required. - Pedagogy:
Proven experience in Middle School education; ability to manage a classroom with energy, empathy, and clear boundaries. - Artistic Expertise:
Professional-level experience in acting and directing; a versatile toolkit of theater games, vocal techniques, and movement styles. - Communication:
Exceptional interpersonal skills, specifically tailored to the social and emotional development of adolescent girls. - DEIB Commitment: A demonstrated track record of implementing anti‑racist and anti‑bias frameworks within a theatrical or educational setting.
