Location: Annandale-on-Hudson

The full-time OEI Academic Advisor is a member of the Equity & Inclusion staff and is responsible for direct service to the students who receive scholarships under the OEI office, who include low‑income, Pell‑eligible, and first‑generation college students from diverse backgrounds. This knowledgeable and student‑oriented person will work directly with OEI scholars and will offer personal, academic, and career advising in one‑on‑one settings as well as in small groups.

This position reports to the Director of Equity & Inclusion Programs and is a full‑time, salaried position in Student/Academic Affairs.

Close collaboration is expected with other staff and offices and programs across the College; including the Learning Commons, the Dean of Student Affairs Office, Student Activities, Health and Counseling Services, the Office of Residence Life and Housing, Athletics, Center for Civic Engagement and faculty.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide holistic advising (academic, personal and social support) to individuals and groups of OEI scholars and OEI community members.
  • Assist students with exploring options, setting goals, and creating a plan to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Monitor academic progress of students and assist with their post‑graduation transition to work or graduate school.
  • Assist with planning and implementing programming events and workshops in collaboration with the Financial Aid office.
  • Monitor students’ success through ongoing outreach and advising; make appropriate referrals and interventions.
  • Maintain confidential records and provide student information for required databases for college, state, and federal reports.
  • Admissions and recruitment.
  • Assume related administrative duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience working with college students, staff, and faculty of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including those with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and/or learning abilities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of outreach and retention strategies that meet the needs of college students from low‑income and/or first‑generation backgrounds.
  • Confidence and proficiency with computers.
  • Driver’s license strongly recommended.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate with students, staff, and faculty with both written and verbal skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Compensation

Compensation: $60,406

This salary range reflects the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for the position at the time of the job posting. Salary decisions are dependent on several factors including but not limited to market and organizational considerations, experience, and qualifications of a selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
