Sports Academy Counselor

JOB OBJECTIVE

Responsible for the implementation of academy duties to create a safe and fun experience.

You are a leader and mentor to participants during daily activities. You keep participants engaged in the sport and activities.

• Assist in leading all planned activities.
• Coach the academy sport to participants in a fun and professional manner.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with other staff and participants.
• Recognize participants developmental needs.
• Assist the lead staff in planning and implementing coaching and activities.
• Ensure proper use of all supplies, materials and resources that are available.
• Conform with academy schedule and agency policies.
• Serve as a good example for participants including appropriate language and dress, punctuality, and display of good sportsmanship.
• Encourage respect and a positive spirit each day.
• Help each participant adjust to and grow within the academy setting.
• Follow all proper agency mandates.
• Extinguish any complaints, problems, and negative situations that might arise.
• Keep Academy Coordinator informed of all extraordinary incidents.
• Assist and execute other duties when appropriately needed.

• Ability to work with diverse populations.
• Experience working with youth, staff, and within an agency.
• Ability to effectively assist with the academy sport.
• Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Function as a team member.
• Ability to adapt, develop, and implement high quality programming.
• High problem‑solving attitude with a safety focus.
• Ability to work independently, efficiently, and professionally, without supervision.

$17 per hour

8:30am-4pm, Monday-Friday from July 6th, 2026 - August 21st, 2026
