Career Insight Volunteer: Mentor NYC Juniors

Career Readiness Academy:
Informational Interview Volunteers

GCSA is seeking 15 professionals to join 15 rising juniors from NYC public schools for a fun, fast-paced virtual career speed networking session during our Career Readiness Summer Academy. Volunteers will meet one-on-one with students in short 15-minute rotations, sharing their career path, daily work, skills, training, challenges, and advice.

Students will come prepared with questions, and GCSA staff will facilitate the rotations so volunteers can focus on having meaningful, low-pressure conversations. The goal is career exploration, not job placement.

This virtual session will take place Thursday, July 9, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM
. During the hour, each volunteer will speak with several students one-on-one.

This is a great fit for professionals in any field who enjoy talking with young people and helping them imagine different futures. We especially welcome volunteers from creative work, technology, AI, publishing, design, marketing, social media, data analysis, research, program design, education, nonprofit, business, and related fields.
