Job Summary:

The Director of ASAP and Student Success initiatives provides strategic leadership, administrative oversight, and operational management for the Advancing Success in Associate Pathways (ASAP) program at SUNY Sullivan. This role is responsible for the comprehensive implementation and management of ASAP, a high-impact initiative that supports students in completing their degrees on time through integrated academic, financial, and personal support.

The Director ensures fidelity to the ASAP model while advancing institutional priorities related to retention, persistence, completion, equity, and student engagement. This position supervises ASAP advising staff, oversees daily program operations, and ensures alignment with SUNY and institutional requirements. In collaboration with campus and system partners, the Director develops and implements policies, processes, and initiatives that enhance the student experience and promote equitable outcomes.

The role leverages data-informed decision-making to assess program effectiveness, guide strategic planning, and support continuous improvement. Additionally, the Director leads cross-functional initiatives, supports staff development, and manages resources to ensure operational effectiveness and the successful delivery of holistic, student-centered services.

Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in higher education administration, counseling, student affairs, social sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years in higher education administration, with a focus on student success initiatives and program management.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising staff and managing programs.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and familiarity with student information and student success systems (e.g., Banner, Degree Works, Starfish, or similar platforms).
  • Experience with ASAP, guided pathways, or other structured student success initiatives a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data to drive decision-making and improve student outcomes.
  • Demonstrated dedication to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within an educational setting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the implementation and coordination of the program, ensuring alignment with SUNY guidelines, institutional goals, policies, and student success priorities.
  • Oversee daily operations, including advising services, student engagement, and program delivery.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate program staff, fostering a collaborative and student-centered environment.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and ensure accountability for student engagement benchmarks.
  • Provide coaching and support to ensure effective advising practices and high-quality student interactions.
  • Manage the program budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources and compliance with funding requirements.
  • Carefully monitor program metrics and utilize data to inform decision-making and program management.
  • Utilize data systems to track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as retention, credit accumulation, and graduation rates.
  • Develop strategies to meet enrollment targets and support student retention through comprehensive services.
  • Prepare reports for institutional leadership and external stakeholders on key performance indicators such as retention, credit accumulation, and graduation rates.
  • Partner with admissions, financial aid, registrar, academic departments, and student support services to support ASAP students and enhance program effectiveness.
Salary:
