POSITION DETAILS
The Hunter College Campus Schools Is a K-12 Institution Seeking a Full-time Student Psychological Counselor Who Will Report Directly To The Director Of The Campus Schools And Who Will Work Closely With The Elementary School Counselor, The High School Guidance Counseling Department, Learning Specialists, Assistant Principals And The Campus Leadership Team. In Addition To The CUNY Title Overview, The Position Will Provide a Range Of Mental Health And Consultation Services To The HCCS Community Including
- Lead crisis assessment, interventions and referrals;
- Coordination of transitions for students needing school/therapeutic services; support to families as they seek services;
- Consultation with K-12 school counselors on student caseloads, providing clinical context for academically and emotionally at-risk children;
- Supervision of Graduate-Level trainees;
- Develop wellness programming with school administrators and counselors;
- Participation on Campus School crisis management team and student support teams; and
- Consultation and Collaboration with community–based providers.

- Conduct comprehensive evaluations;
- Provide individual short-term counseling;
- Coordination of transitions for students needing school/therapeutic services; support to families as they seek services;
- Consultation with K-12 school counselors on student caseloads, providing clinical context for academically and emotionally at-risk children;
- Supervision of Graduate-Level trainees;
- Develop wellness programming with school administrators and counselors;
- Participation on Campus School crisis management team and student support teams; and
- Consultation and Collaboration with community–based providers.
Bachelor’s degree and six years’ related experience required.
A Doctoral degree in Psychology to include Ph.D. and Psy.
D. programs (OR) A Master's degree in an appropriate discipline for person or psychological counseling and a New York State license as a mental health practitioner (social work, psychology, or mental health counseling) are required.
In addition, six years' professional experience is required for all candidates.
- Experience with children in both elementary and high school age groups highly preferred
- Experience working within a school environment preferred
Broad experience with children ages 5-18 and their families is appropriate, and familiarity with issues related to the gifted population is desirable.
Overall flexibility and the ability to successfully negotiate multiple demands and competing priorities are crucial.
This position is designated as an on-premise role- regular attendance in office required.
