Overview

The successful candidate will have earned a Ph.D. in chemistry or a related field with a specialization in biochemistry. They will be expected to teach Organic Chemistry 1 and 2 (lecture and laboratory) and/or General Chemistry 1 and 2 (lecture and laboratory). Skill in teaching both chemistry topics is particularly desirable. The candidate may also teach advanced courses in their field of expertise, contingent upon student demand.

They should be able to develop a strategy or research proposal that involves undergraduate students, be deeply involved in student advisement—especially for medical and health-related fields—and participate in campus and college-wide service.

Responsibilities
  • Teach a minimum of four undergraduate courses/labs per semester and may take on additional sections, including during summer sessions.
  • Plan instructional activities that include lecture, class discussion, demonstration labs, and projects.
  • Continue productivity in scholarly works.
  • Mentor students in independent study projects.
  • Design and implement independent undergraduate research projects using university infrastructure and resources.
  • Provide academic student advisement.
  • Participate in student recruitment activities.
  • Serve on college committees.
  • Contribute to the department's curriculum development efforts.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance understanding of advances in chemistry, related sciences, and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.
Qualifications Education/Experience
  • Doctorate in Chemistry or a related field required.
  • Experience teaching at the college level preferred.
  • Funded research experience and grant writing abilities are a plus.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple, varied tasks with frequent high urgency or sensitivity.
  • Collaboration skills and effective teamwork.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, written and oral, and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canvas, Blackboard, Banner, and Outlook.
Maximum Salary

USD $90,000.00 /Yr.

Minimum Salary

USD $72,000.00 /Yr.
