The Berkeley Carroll School is a Pre‑K through grade 12 college‑preparatory school of almost 1,000 students located in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn in New York City. Our vibrant learning environment draws students from all over the city. Admission to the school is competitive, and both our parents and students value achievement and community.

The Berkeley Carroll School is seeking an Assistant Varsity Head Coach for the fall for its Boys/Nonbinary Soccer Team.

Dates and Hours

The soccer season starts on Monday, August 24 with two weeks of pre‑season (9‑11 AM and 3‑6 PM) and runs through approximately October 30. This is a four‑day/week position (with the day off rotating each week), from approximately 3‑6 PM (depending on practice and game location).

Responsibilities
  • Cultivate a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment for student‑athletes.
  • Prepare student‑athletes for success in interscholastic competition.
  • Motivate student‑athletes to demonstrate commitment to their athletic growth and development.
  • Teach and develop the skills, strategies, and competitive concepts necessary for team and individual success.
  • Build community, team cohesion, and sportsmanship.
  • Collaborate effectively with the athletic department, school administrators, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of soccer and ability to teach and develop athletic skills and competitive concepts.
  • Ability to build community and team spirit.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire student‑athletes to demonstrate commitment to their growth and development, to develop their appreciation for the sport, and to collaborate effectively with their teammates.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive, and growth‑oriented team culture.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, administrators, and colleagues.
