New York Edge is seeking passionate and enthusiastic Summer Activity Instructor – Visual Arts Specialists. Multiple openings across 5 boroughs.

What is a Visual Arts Activity SpecialistSummer Visual Arts Activity Specialists lead day‑camp programming for children and teens. The role is a dual‑reporting position supporting curriculum development and instruction, designing lesson plans, implementing curricula, preparing activity materials, and explaining principles, techniques, and safety procedures to students. Specialists also set clear goals and objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate them to students.
What will you do- Build strong relationships with and among students
- Organize, lead, and promote interest in arts activities such as visual art, painting, drawing, photography, and digital media
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with program staff, school personnel and parents/guardians
- Teach or co‑lead daily activities
- Explain principles, techniques, and safety procedures to participants and demonstrate the use of materials and equipment
- Administer pre‑ and post‑assessments and evaluations for student activities
- Other duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- College credits and/or degrees are highly preferred
- Knowledge and skill in Visual Arts Activities with at least one year of experience instructing youth
- Experience working with children is strongly preferred
Part‑Time Seasonal (July 1 – August 14). Weekly scheduled hours: 15‑29 hrs. No summer camp on July 3.
- Elementary school:
Monday‑Friday 12 pm‑6 pm - Middle school:
Monday‑Thursday 12 pm‑6 pm, Fridays 8 am‑6 pm (until August
7)
Pay: $20‑25 per hour (based on experience and credentials).
