Groove With Me is a free dance school for girls in East Harlem. We attract and engage girls during idle out‑of‑school time and build self‑confidence to prevent risk‑taking behaviors. For almost 30 years, we have been focused on fueling leadership, confidence, creativity, and discipline in young women. The program offers a safe, supportive space for self‑expression and fostering positive choices to girls aged 5‑18, living in East Harlem and the South Bronx.
In January 2024, we opened a studio double in size. It has four classrooms and the ability to house 80 weekly classes with 15 girls a class, or 1,200 participants.
The Groove With Me Strategy VISTA will be instrumental in ensuring every qualified child knows about the opportunity so they can flourish in a safe place during this stressful time. Your input will be critical in securing more teachers to increase the number of dance classes we offer and strengthening your networking skills.
Member Duties- Survey families and plan engagement events to increase parent involvement, participation, and community.
- Gather training and skills from board members to shape a business plan/strategic plan for the next five years.
- Compile achievements and design and prepare an annual report.
- Update dance listings and curate social media to increase the number of classes by securing more teachers.
