Garden Intern

Brooklyn Center Community Schools is looking for students to become summer Garden Interns. We are looking to fill multiple positions.

• Support the maintenance and function of the Brooklyn Center Elementary, Secondary, and ECA school gardens by watering, weeding, planting, harvesting, pest management, and beautifying outdoor classroom spaces etc.
• Support school garden community engagement efforts and initiatives. This may include planning and coordinating a farmers market, planning and teaching lessons and workshops for community members of all ages, hosting taste tests/cooking activities, and organizing special garden events.
• Support marketing efforts by managing website content, creating fliers, etc.
• Support teachers and teaching artists in facilitating garden activities with students.
• Learn job skills and explore a personal area of interest related to the garden (such as cooking, art, botany, community engagement, wellbeing, etc).

• Days and times:
  Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9 am to noon. More hours available if desired.

• End Date:
  August 13th
• Possible hours available in September and October after school.

• Pay: $15/hour
• Bonuses available at the end of the summer season for employees who demonstrate excellent attendance and completion of a quality “passion project.”
