POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director of School Based Programs will need to possess familiarity with social services and a variety of available community resources. The Assistant Director of School Based Programs will assist with oversight of daily operations, program quality, compliance, and staff supervision for multiple Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) COMPASS after-school program sites. This position ensures that all sites provide safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate programming aligned with DYCD standards, Department of Health (DOH) School-Age Child Care (SACC) regulations, and organizational goals.
The Assistant Director of School Based Programs supports Program Director and frontline staff while maintaining strong relationships with schools, families, and community stakeholders. The Assistant Director of School Based Programs will be responsible for.
The ideal candidate is an organized, mission-driven leader with experience managing youth development programs across multiple locations and ensuring high-quality service delivery, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
This position involves traveling to multiple worksite locations daily and assisting with the implementation of strategies to recruit and retain participants. Additionally, the Assistant Director of School-Based Programs will help coordinate personnel training and ensure staff performance aligns with organizational goals.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):
Program Oversight & Operations Supervise and support multiple DYCD funded UAU COMPASS program sites to ensure consistent, high-quality programming for grades K-8
Monitor daily program operations, including attendance, staff coverage, safety procedures, transitions, meal service, and activity implementation.
Conduct regular daily/weekly site visits to assess program quality, staff performance, safety compliance, and adherence to DYCD and DOH/SACC regulations.
Ensure all sites maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including attendance records, incident reports, emergency contact information, medical records, and enrollment files.
Ensure implementation of age-appropriate educational, recreational, enrichment, leadership, and social-emotional learning activities aligned with COMPASS goals.
Oversee compliance with DYCD contractual requirements, DOE school-based procedures, and DOH Article 47 School-Age Child Care (SACC) regulations.
DOH/SACC Compliance & Licensing Ensure all assigned sites remain fully compliant with NYC Department of Health School-Age Child Care (SACC) licensing requirements.

Group size requirements
Supervision protocols
Health screenings and medical documentation
Emergency preparedness and evacuation drills
Safety plans and injury reporting
