Reading Partners NYC: a volunteer opportunity in your community! Help an elementary school student improve their reading skills by providing them with one‑on‑one individualized tutoring with Reading Partners' structured, evidence‑based curriculum.

Tutoring DetailsTutoring sessions are only one hour and take place from Monday through Thursday between 8:00am and 2:30pm, with the possibility of after‑school tutoring sessions from 2:30‑4:30pm.
No experience is required to become a tutor and Reading Partners provides an easy‑to‑follow curriculum that includes an interactive script, detailed lesson plans, and plenty of volunteer support so you can teach an effective lesson.
CommitmentVolunteers only need to be able to tutor on a weekly basis for a minimum of one hour per week, or one session per week.
Follow the Reading Partners structured curriculum.
Sessions are held at the same day/time and with the same student each week.
RequirementsPositive attitude, willingness to learn, celebrating differences, and enthusiasm for young learners.
Complete a volunteer application, schedule a 1.5‑hour Tutor Orientation, and complete a background check with the NYC Department of Education.
