SPED Education Teacher
Compensation: $65,000 - $105,000 yearly (based on minimum state rates).

- You have a passion for working with the autism population and ensuring the safety and well‑being of students and staff.
- You execute tasks with strategic thinking and lead by example.
- You have strong written communication skills, especially for documentation, progress notes, incident reports, and related administrative tasks.
- You can collect and analyze data for instructional decision‑making.
- You adapt, remain flexible, and make appropriate decisions under pressure and evolving circumstances.
- You are familiar with Microsoft 365 applications and other related applications.
- Develop, adapt, and implement curriculum using evidence‑based practices and task analysis.
- Participate in the IEP process, develop goals, and monitor progress through ongoing data collection and analysis.
- Guide and support classroom staff to ensure high‑quality instruction and consistent implementation.
- Deliver instruction aligned with student needs; conduct assessments, interpret data, and recommend strategies.
- Demonstrate willingness to learn new skills and build strong relationships with students and colleagues.
- Collaborate effectively across departments to support academic, life‑skills, and vocational instruction.
- Assist students with self‑care needs and behavior management as required.
- Maintain accurate records and collaborate with special area teachers, clinicians, and families.
- Communicate effectively with parents and community partners in alignment with school policies.
- Stay current on laws, regulations, and best practices in special education.
- Use technology for organization, data tracking, and reporting.
- Maintain confidentiality and contribute to a culturally responsive, collegial environment.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Be skilled in crisis intervention and managing behavioral crises in educational settings.
- Complete and maintain TCIS training and all required certifications.

- Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field, required.
- Current or eligible NY State Special Education teaching license, required.
- Knowledge of IDEA, state regulations, and national special‑education standards, required.
- Experience using instructional technology tools and applications, required.
- Experience working with middle and high school students with Autism and related disorders, required.
- Credentials in middle, high school, or adolescent special education, preferred.
- Expertise in an academic content area, preferred.
- Knowledge of best practices in special education, preferred.
- Familiarity with educational and vocational assessment tools, preferred.
- Campus includes paved areas, grass, gravel paths, and parking lots. Some areas require stairs and may have limited accessibility.
- Must be able to ambulate around campus, including hills, stairs, grass, and gravel.
- Student‑facing positions require rapid response during crises, ability to run across campus to monitor or remove from unsafe situations.
- Must be able to pass TCIS (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Training for Schools).
- Must be able to bend, stretch, sit, stand, crouch, or kneel for sustained periods if implementing a hold.
